Happy new year!

OK, I know I’m 4 days late … but its because we’ve been crazy busy working on numerous projects including: Facebook applications, dataportability.org, engagd.com,Tagurself and various other APML related projects.

In addition to all that, weve also been working away on the new Cluztr browser add-on and web site. All the details are still secret but it’s really going to be great. More word on that as we approach the launch.

New “my interests” APML widget now available

Now, you can display a widget of your interests derived from your clicks. The widget is also updated automatically as your interests change, from day to day. This widget displays your Attention Profile (APML), that is, your likes and dislikes, preferences and interests.

Check it out: http://www.cluztr.com/community/widgets/

Support for APML

Cluztr has been long since been a supporter of APML and we’ve been working with APML.org workgroup to develop, refine and propagate the standard. APML stands for “Attention Profiling Markup Language” and consists of all the information online about what you read, write, share and consume.

APML allows users to share their own personal Attention Profile in much the same way that OPML allows the exchange of reading lists between news readers. The idea is to compress all forms of Attention Data into a portable file format containing a description of ranked user interests.

Many companies are already making huge sums of money off of your attention data. APML is a method for you to use it for our own purposes as well.

As your browse the web, with Cluztr, it creates your Attention Profile which you can link or export to any number of third-party online services that supports APML. Just grab the feed from the APML icon on your profile page.

And we’re back.

Some of you were wondering how come we’ve been so quiet the last few weeks. We’ve been working on some great things from a business perspective as well as tinkering behind the scenes. You’ve also probably noticed many new features have been quietly released: new profiles, tags, neighbours and messaging etc. Expect some big announcements soon.

The new server

As many of you know we have spend the last few weeks tinkering with our new server. It hasn’t been totally without problems but if you bang on something long enough it will usually start working.

Having this great new and powerful back-end will allow us to support more concurrent usage as well as lots of great new features about to be released

Expect great new things in the coming weeks.

Server Maintenance

The service will be going down for a period of about 12 hours the evening of June 15th. We are moving onto a much more powerful server. We appologize for any inconvenience.

Cluztr’s first third-party widget: Live Attention

Stan James, of Lijit, has put together a great application that leverages Cluztr’s API. It’s called “What is Stan watching right now?” or, more formally, Live Attention and allows anyone to follow an attentionstream without needing a download.

Read about it on Stan’s blog, WanderingStan.com: http://wanderingstan.com/2007-06-04/project_what_is_stan_watching_right_now

The click-time continuum…

In physics, spacetime is any mathematical model that combines space and time into a single construct called the space-time continuum. However, on the web, “space” as we understand it - is irrelevant, therefore the construct which governs the virtual world would combine time and clicks, called the click-time continuum.

OK, enough of the egghead stuff… you can view your very own click-time continuum or “timeline”, for short, from your profile page. It visualizes your site clickstream along a timeline which you can pull and drag.

Say hello to my little friend! Uhm, I mean feed.

We can’t take credit for this, since it was another great idea from you guys.

Many of you noted, that importing your raw clickstream feed into services such as iStalkr, Jaiku and Dandelife can result in RSS overload. So to keep things clean, you now have access to a “site clickstream” which, as you may have guessed, is your clicks aggregated by domain, rather than a multitude of pages.

You can get your feed from your profile page, just click on the Feeds tab and enjoy!

Server Maintenance

Our server will be under going maintenance, for a few hours tonight (May 24th). Service may be down for as long as 24 hours. This upgrade is to support additional traffic and usage, overall performance should also increase.

We apologize for the inconvenience.
