on the profile settings page we can put in a username for our memberships in other services. with fotki you are using the http://www.fotki.com/ approach

personally i want them to see the fotki site from pieroway.fotki.com portal. it looks better.

question: is every fotki account accessable from username.fotki.com, or does that require the user to turn on that feature.

if it’s universally browseable, i’d use the subdomain url approach.

Good point. Fix has been made.

  3. 3 Symesee March 30, 2007 at 2:39 pm

Hey Jon, it just ate my feature request b/c I didn’t put in an e-mail address. We should mark those as ‘required fields’ b/c once i hit submit it gave me an error message and lost my post.

Anyway, I’ll be going through the site today and getting you my thoughts this weekend. The new pages look awesome so far!

    Andrew

  4. 4 Jon March 30, 2007 at 6:29 pm

I’ve made the fix so you do not need to put your name or email to post a comment.

  5. 5 Shinnokxz April 12, 2007 at 10:28 pm

When chatting with other users on a page, clicking ‘send’ is a chore. Is it possible to publish and enter the text by just pressing the return key like in other chat programs?

  6. 6 Shinnokxz April 12, 2007 at 10:32 pm

Also, on the top of the Cluztr window in the browser, under your username where all your icons that show what other websites and services you are apart of, if there are a lot then the string of icons gets a little long and looks weird to the eye. Perhaps if it wraps to the next line after five icons or so?

Also there should be something that tells you what friends are online and offline in your friends list in the browser addon. All it says it their last site they saw and doesn’t say if they’re online or off. I think that would be something nice to implement.

Overall I really like this addon and will keep it going on my browser.

  7. 7 Jon April 12, 2007 at 11:03 pm

    * Is it possible to publish and enter the text by just pressing the return key like in other chat programs?
    This has just been implemented.

    * Perhaps if it wraps to the next line after five icons or so?
This has been noted and will be addressed.

*Also there should be something that tells you what friends are online and offline in your friends list in the browser addon. All it says it their last site they saw and doesn’t say if they’re online or off.
There is an “online status” icon next to each friend’s username. If it’s grey they are offline, if its blue they are online. You can mouseover to get the tooltip.

    Thanks for the feedback.

there should be a way to lock the chat window to a certain page, that way we can choose to go and chat on a page by page basis as well as a site by site or just leave it on a busy site’s chat and hang out

  9. 9 Jon April 12, 2007 at 11:58 pm

    * there should be a way to lock the chat window to a certain page
This feature has been added to the road map. It’s actually built just not enabled (yet).

  10. 10 Shinnokxz April 13, 2007 at 12:23 am

I was going to suggest that as well, however on second thought I was wondering if the developers had thought that locking the chat to a certain website went against the nature of that aspect of the application. I know the chatting system is only one of a lot of things you guys are trying to do (you guys seem to be mostly focused on social networking of URLs and browsing patterns per user rather than just the chatting aspect).

Stemming from that, have you guys considered a chat system that would rather allow everyone under a certain domain to be able to chat with each other, rather than it being a page by page basis? This is just a thought some of the chatters at Digg and I spitballed to each other. It seems like you’d have to go one way or the other (either a chat for each page or a chat for each domain) so I’m wondering what exactly the thought was from the developers were on that.

Thanks for your time and keep it up.

  11. 11 Shinnokxz April 13, 2007 at 12:23 am

Oh and thanks for listening and implementing what’s been suggested thus far!

  12. 12 DCJoeDog April 13, 2007 at 12:44 am

it seems if we click on “site” instead of “page” on the sidebar, we can do just that

  13. 13 Shinnokxz April 13, 2007 at 12:49 am

Yeah I just noticed that too, derp! sorry about that. RTFM eh?

  14. 14 Achaeaperson April 13, 2007 at 12:55 am

It’d be really nice if there was some kind of notification system for comment replys. Like if I’m on digg.com and I post something in the chat window, and then navigate away from digg.com, to chat about some other site, there’s no way for me to know if someone replied without manually checking.

  15. 15 DCJoeDog April 13, 2007 at 12:56 am

how about when we pull up the info on the avatar in the list of folks a given site there is also a add as friend button, instead of making us go all the way back to cluztr to do it

  16. 16 DCJoeDog April 13, 2007 at 12:57 am

in case your wonders I am talking the same info box that says show last pages

    just make it like this

“Show last pages : Add friend”

  17. 17 Shinnokxz April 13, 2007 at 1:05 am

Did it just crash for anyone?

  18. 18 DCJoeDog April 13, 2007 at 1:05 am

yup, and I can’t log in again

  19. 20 Jon April 13, 2007 at 1:24 am

    * I know the chatting system is only one of a lot of things you guys are trying to do (you guys seem to be mostly focused on social networking of URLs and browsing patterns per user rather than just the chatting aspect).
That’s correct, there are several “contextual-site” chat programs and Cluztr aims to enhance what’s out there now as opposed to compete with it. Having said that, we would like to round out chatting and make it a little more robust.

    * have you guys considered a chat system that would rather allow everyone under a certain domain to be able to chat with each other, rather than it being a page by page basis?
As DCJoeDog mentioned, just click on “site”.

    * It’d be really nice if there was some kind of notification system for comment replys.
This is problematic. One solution is the locking mechanism that will be implemented soon.

    * how about when we pull up the info on the avatar in the list of folks a given site there is also a add as friend button
Great idea. You should see this soon.

    * Did it just crash for anyone?
We are experiencing “server stress” and are working to handle it. In addition, when we update the build it sometimes logs users out momentarily. It’s nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Keep it up.

  20. 21 GioSico April 13, 2007 at 2:05 am

    Jon,

Tried it out and I like it …

Is their a way to disable it recording my history without having to disable the plugin?

I looked in the FAQ etc but didn’t find anything?

    Cheers

  21. 22 GioSico April 13, 2007 at 11:03 am

I figured out that browsing history recording stops when one is offline or signed out but I have not seen that written anywhere.

  22. 23 DCJoeDog April 13, 2007 at 11:08 am

Maybe they should put that in the status button under file, just make a “Private” mode where it is still logged in and you can chat with the people on those web pages, but it will not record the site url’s as you go to them. I think this is the best compromise. BUT, if you close the browser and return maybe a small nag/reminder should come up and tell us we are still in private mode and won’t be able to enjoy all the features of Cluztr, and ask if we want to go back to full on “Online” mode by clicking the tooltip bubble.
    kinda like this…

“You have started a new browsing session, but it appears you are still in “Privacy” mode. If you want to enjoy all the feature Cluztr has to offer, we suggest you switch back to “Online” mode. To switch back you may click here, or go to file and change your status manually.”

    Just a suggestion. LOL

  23. 24 DCJoeDog April 13, 2007 at 11:33 am

also, how about there be a way to flush the chat and user history. I think the log is bogging the add-on locally. can this be done without erasing my browsing history?

  24. 25 Jon April 13, 2007 at 5:23 pm

    * Maybe they should put that in the status button under file, just make a “Private” mode where it is still logged in and you can chat with the people on those web pages, but it will not record the site url’s as you go to them.
If you change your status to “Appear offline” you can achieve what you described.

    * I figured out that browsing history recording stops when one is offline or signed out but I have not seen that written anywhere.
This will be added to the documentation.

    * also, how about there be a way to flush the chat and user history. I think the log is bogging the add-on locally.
The “bogging” you’ve described may be a bug. It is currently been investigated.

*can this be done without erasing my browsing history?
    Not currently.

  25. 26 Thomas April 19, 2007 at 8:54 am

I’m missing a feature which basically I registered to this service. Well, don’t get me wrong, as cluztr is I really think it has a great future. But what I miss is a function to 1) recieve link recommondations and 2) find users with similar (or adjustable in percent) browsing behaviour. Oh please please, can we get this?

  26. 27 Jon April 19, 2007 at 4:53 pm

    * 1) recieve link recommondations
We will be adding additional features to receive link recommendations, however, you can access links which fit your browsing profile … open the sidebar – click on linkstreams and click on relevant. This will display all links that you may like. To get more results try clicking on “last 24hrs” for even more results.

    * 2) find users with similar (or adjustable in percent) browsing behaviour.
Go to your profile, at the bottom you will a section with people who have similar browsing behavior. Mouse-over any user and you will see a progress bar showing their compatibility with you. If you go to their profile (while signed in) there will be displayed a percentage next to their picture which compares you browsing to theirs.

  27. 28 Thomas April 25, 2007 at 2:32 am

Weehaa! Last update brought gorgeous new things!
You also said there are coming some filter mechanisms.

    a) I think it would be no bad idea for the recommendations section to filter out all pages I already have in my linkstream (as because nearly all the recommendation list is full with links I already know).

And b) maybe it would also not be a bad idea to swap single recommendations away due to uninterestingnes (i.e. i do know gmail, but I don’t want it).

    Go on, great job there!
    Thomas

  28. 29 Jon April 25, 2007 at 8:56 am

    * a) I think it would be no bad idea for the recommendations section to filter out all pages I already have in my linkstream

I agree – this has been implemented.

    b) maybe it would also not be a bad idea to swap single recommendations away due to uninterestingnes (i.e. i do know gmail, but I don’t want it).

I also agree – and this will be implemented very shortly.

  29. 30 Thomas April 25, 2007 at 9:56 am

    Hooray! You rock, dude! ;]
Well then, there are some new ideas which came up now to me while I was lookin at te new and funky profile page. Some advanced things, but ideas anyway.

    a) I’m lookin at my recommendations and do find some interesting things there. But in the Top 10 (much more in the lower space) there are also some links to sites in languages which I even didn’t know they exist. So maybe Cluztr can analyze the language of the sites I visit and give me only recommendations in same languages. I don’t know, can a system automatically determinate the language of a site??

    b) Top Sites and Top Pages is a cool thing. If you like this idea and have some time, maybe it would be a nice one to show how many times this site has been visited, how long the user spent there last time and how long in total. Maybe also, which people have followed me there by clicking this link out from my profile or linkstream.

    c) Also for the recommendations, does your system output a percentage of possibility in how much I might be interested in one site? If yes, this would be nice to see!

    d) Again for recommendations, what do you think of seperating this also in Recommendated Sites and Recommendated Pages? This would give the user the possibility to find some new services in the Sites section (like Flickr, MySpace, Yahoo or even Cluztr 🙂 and the Rec. Pages would give me some interesting videos on YouTube, news, profiles and blogs I might be interested in.

  30. 31 Jon May 8, 2007 at 10:44 pm

    * I don’t know, can a system automatically determinate the language of a site??
Yes, but it won’t be easy to do in the immediate future. But definitely something we should try to handle.

    * it would be a nice one to show how many times this site has been visited
    Done.

    * how long the user spent there last time and how long in total
    This will be implemented shortly.

    * does your system output a percentage of possibility in how much I might be interested in one site?
This would be more difficult to implement but not impossible.

    * what do you think of seperating this also in Recommendated Sites and Recommendated Pages?
Great idea. This will be implemented shortly.

Thanks for all the great ideas Thomas! Keep them coming!

  31. 32 J May 11, 2007 at 7:46 am

I think it would be cool if you could just click on your profile pic or name in the sidebar to go to you profile. That’s it for now ^__^

  32. 33 Jon May 11, 2007 at 1:46 pm

    * if you could just click on your profile pic or name in the sidebar to go to you profile.
    Done!

    Thanks for the request J

  33. 34 J May 11, 2007 at 5:28 pm

    Man, that fast SUPERfast! Thanks!

  34. 35 mxjx May 11, 2007 at 8:16 pm

So far I’m really enjoying Cluztr, which I’m using to aggregate my surfing to post to my tumblelog. I’ve set my clickstream as private for a couple of reasons, two of the main reasons is I’m not a full on exhibitionist and it can be alot of information sometimes. But I would still like to share some of my clickstream here; I’m thinking a public list or publish feature.

Also I noticed that my feed “died” once I went private. On it’s own it’s not a big deal. But navigating my clickstream one page at a time gets tiresome so I was hoping to subscribe to my feed so I could keep, delete, tag, arrange, etc to my hearts delight (by sending it to gmail via rssfwds).

Otherwise, it’s pretty awesome here. 🙂

    j

  35. 36 Jon May 11, 2007 at 10:24 pm

    MXJX,
We’ve flipped the switch so even if your clickstream is set to private you can still access and subscribe to your feed.

    * But I would still like to share some of my clickstream here; I’m thinking a public list or publish feature.
    This is a good idea.

    Thanks for the great feedback!

  36. 37 mxjx May 11, 2007 at 11:02 pm

Wow, I’ll second the superfast. Thanks on the feed, it’s up & running. I’m eagerly awaiting all the developments ’round here. Just one other thing I thought of. When I right click the icon in the chrome, can “Goto Cluztr.com” be one of them?

  37. 38 Jon May 11, 2007 at 11:36 pm

    You’re welcome mxjx!

    * When I right click the icon in the chrome, can “Goto Cluztr.com” be one of them?
Absolutely, this will be in the next add-on release (next few days).

  38. 39 Dwight Benignus\ May 27, 2007 at 3:16 pm

Facebook just released apps. Maybe a Cluztr app would be cool. Something like top 5 rated links from clickstream, or maybe the ability to view someones clicks through their facebook.

  39. 40 Jon May 27, 2007 at 6:56 pm

    Great idea Dwight.

  40. 41 michael June 3, 2007 at 9:02 am

This would become a possible del.icio.us replacement for me if I could tag favorites. So there would need to be a notion of tagging on starred items, along with a UI on the Favorites tab (on the firefox sidebar) that allows filtering your favorites.

Would also want to have a feed of only sites I have favorited, to post on my blog. I’m not so interested in putting my entire history there.

  41. 42 Jon June 3, 2007 at 4:11 pm

Cluztr really aims to extend current social networks and apps, like del.icio.us, as opposed to developing the same kind of functionality.

However, if there is a desire to allow for tagging of favorites and expand that aspect of the application we can do that.

Exposing a “favorites feed” is definitely something we can do and should be available shortly.

  42. 43 Mark Gutierrez June 11, 2007 at 11:19 am

I would like to be able to adjust the size of windows like the users online and the chat box. Basically, adjust the size of the top window and the bottom window.

Another feature that I wouldn’t know if it’s possible but still a cool feature, is a screenshot image of the website itself that someone has recently visited. Like how the AOL Browser only shows the image of the webpage and not the entire screen (start menu, desktop icons, .etc)

  43. 44 Jon June 12, 2007 at 4:23 pm

    > I would like to be able to adjust the size of windows like the users online and the chat box
We will be releasing a brand new sidebar interface soon and your request feature will be available.

    > a screenshot image of the website itself that someone has recently visited.
This is definately possible and we are experimenting with this feature.

    Great ideas, thanks Mark!

  44. 45 Dwight Benignus August 26, 2007 at 2:24 pm

Hi, I thought of a suggestion to add to the social aspect of cluztr.

In Cluztr, it’s usually up to the user to find people who share the same interests in websites. What if cluztr itself could make suggestions in connecting people of similar interest by a sort of compatibility scale?

The way I would see it is a sort of point merit system like this:

Whenever you go onto an article, the users that also read the same article get a point. Say you have 3 people Todd, Jon, and Dean. Start from the perspective of Todd. Todd reads an article. Later on, Jon and Dean read the same article. By doing this, Jon and Dean both get a point from Todd. The more you visit a page that someone else has visited, the more points the other person gets. After a while, Todd starts to look at the points of people nearby and fellow users, and notices that Dean has more points than anyone else, indicating they visit similar sites.

The points would be personalized. So Todd wouldn’t get any points for himself, and the points Jon and Dean would get would be only from the perspective of Todd; on their personal windows, they may have a different person with the most compatibility points.

You could also add rating to the system. Rating it positively would give 2 points instead of 1, negatively would take the point away to 0. Not rating would just keep it at 1.

The merit system is a little similar to what some news feed sites are doing. I don’t know if Cluztr already has a function similar to this or not. I’ve seen a compare thing when you’re looking at the profile of another user. I just think it would be cool to see if people have similar taste to me on the web without having to directly search for them. Just a suggestion, though. Cheers

  45. 46 Jon August 30, 2007 at 12:32 pm

    Hey Dwight,
You’re suggestion is brilliant and we did have a system very similar to what you described in place before. We are in the process of reworking several of our components, one of which is the user discover/recomendation system also known as “neighbors”. You can expect to see this feature back online (and better) shortly.

Thanks for taking the time to write.
    Jon

Can I suggest you guys include Xbox Live as on of the social profiles you can link to?

  47. 48 Jon September 6, 2007 at 8:04 am

    * include Xbox Live as on of the social profiles you can link to?

    Done!
    Thanks Hellboy.

  48. 49 hellboy September 6, 2007 at 10:53 pm

Another suggestion. Just looking at the clickstream it looks as though it treats http://digg.com and http://www.digg.com as different URLs (which I guess technically they are). Any plans to get it to recognise these two links as the same thing?

  49. 50 Jon September 7, 2007 at 6:52 am

Great suggestion. Strangely enough it’s quite complicated to recognize http://www.digg.com and digg.com as the same domain. Having said that, this is something we will support, in the near future.

NOTE: Services like del.icio.us currently does not recognize those two links as the same thing.

  50. 51 chaoskaizer September 21, 2007 at 10:48 pm

I wish there is a claim box for services like technorati, istalkr etc

  51. 52 Guillaume Boudreau October 19, 2007 at 9:22 pm

Safari 3 support would be great! 🙂

  52. 53 Mark Gutierrez January 5, 2008 at 12:59 am

You know how Last.fm has a little “widget” for your website or My Space profile showing everyone your favorite artists, songs, and most played songs and artists. There should be a Cluztr widget that does that except with sites and clicks. I would love to add that to either my website or My Space profile.

  53. 54 Payton Glass April 24, 2008 at 2:07 am

Hi guys!! I had a suggestion that I forgot a few days ago, but now I remember it :P. What about having support for Songbird and/or SeaMonkey? Well, now I’m using Flock and seems well, but sometimes things go wrong and I have to go either Songbird or SeaMonkey, where there’s no Cluztr add-on :(. I think that at least Songbird users would do a great use of Cluztr by finding new music and letting them share pages and communicate thru Cluztr. Also, I know this might be buggy since everyone is doing something about it, but what about an extra button that says “Send 2 Twitter” or Jaiku or Pownce or any of those. Also, I support the idea of badges for blogs or webpages, maybe something simple yet useful ;). And perhaps a Get Satisfaction page for you (?), so you can easily track suggestions and bugs (well, since I got a profile there, I can see that many services have a page there, so they don’t need a forum of their own -OpenID lover here). Well, read you guys!! Good luck! 😀

  54. 58 Mike Chelen October 14, 2008 at 5:04 am

How about import from hCard .vcf format? It is broadly used and there is an hCard export option already.

  55. 59 deusdiabolus December 14, 2008 at 8:13 pm

I would like to see the addition of a toggle on my clicks (like the ‘flag as inappropriate’ toggle) that I could use to designate a click or site as private, or possibly also remove certain clicks (that I made, of course). Also, the addition of an editable list under my account settings that I could use to designate domains I’d like to be kept private/kept out of my public clickstream would be great!

When I take a look at your site in Safari, it looks fine however
when opening in Internet Explorer, it’s got some overlapping issues. I just wanted to provide you with a quick heads up! Apart from that, great website!
